Charity Clay Day 2024
We had a very hot sunny day for our Charity Clay Day this year on the 19th July at the Barbury Shooting School. With six teams of competitors joining us for the day there was very keen competition, and everyone certainly seemed to have a lot of fun. It was a very successful fundraising day, made possible by Frances who organised the event, the Barbury Shooting School and to everyone who provided sponsorship and support to the day. We would particularly like to thank Knight Frank who were are main sponsors for the day for the second year running, and we hope to have another Clay Day in 2025.
We were joined by two members of the Thatcham Photographic Club www.thatchamphotoclub.com, who kindly offered to take photographs of the events of the day. We are extremely grateful for their time and the incredible range of photos taken.
To start the day, the Shooting School provided us with their private room for meeting and greeting the teams with time for teas, coffees and delicious bacon rolls. Following the briefing the teams set off around the various traps with a break at 11.15 for more refreshments and delicious snacks in the club house.
After all the teams had shot at each of the traps, the teams came back to the Club House for a great buffet style barbecue lunch and everyone sat down to catch up on the day and swap stories of their achievements!
Following lunch the results from the silent Auction were announced and an additional lot kindly donated by the Barbury Shooting School was auctioned on the day. In total an incredible £2,785 was raised, so a huge thank you to everyone who bid and congratulations to the winners. We would like to say a very big thank you to the following people who kindly donated a prize for the Silent Auction:
Simon Marsh
Will Bannister
The Racing Club
Salisbury & Wilts Golf Club
Nicky & Sophie Henderson
Frances Lochrane & Justin Willward
Posh Pundit Racing Club Syndicate
Simon Bragg
Thanks also to Lochrane Associates and the Sophie Conway Equestrian Mums Club who generously sponsored cartridges for each team.
After Josh and Matt had added up the scores from the morning’s shooting the presentations followed and we would like to thank White Coco, Hungerford for providing a voucher for the Best Lady Shot and to the Witshire Liquer Company for providing liquers for the ‘Could Do Better prize’! Prizes were also given to the Best Gentleman Shot and the Best Team.
The Barbury team looked after us incredibly well, including making sure there was always a supply of chilled water, which was very much needed on what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year! A big thank you to the Barbury team, Lorna, Sam, Jane, Josh and Matt and to everyone behind the scenes who worked so hard to make the day such a success.
