Farewell to Ant (Aramis)
It is with huge sadness that we have had to say a sad farewell to Ant who has gone to join his much missed friend Eliza.
Ant came to Lambourn RDA in 2014 on permanent loan from Wantage RDA. Over the years he has been with us he has given so much pleasure to riders and volunteers. He could be very cheeky with our volunteers, especially when grass was involved, and once took off across the car park at the Regional Qualifier at Wellington to find that one blade of grass with his name on it, breaking his bridle in the process! With a borrowed bridle, he then proceeded to win his dressage class.
Who would have thought that a fairly ordinary cob would go on to win dressage classes for several years at the Regionals, and he was always placed at the Championships with consistently above average scores? With perfect manners, (as far as his riders were concerned) patience and a gentle nature he was a pleasure to have as part of our team. He knew how to adapt to the needs of his very varied riders and responded so well to them all.
Troubled by arthritis for many years and a serious illness last year, he then developed underlying incurable health problems. Sadly, reducing his work did not solve the problems so it was decided with a very heavy heart that he should join the love of his life, Eliza.
Thank you Wantage RDA for allowing us the privilege of having such a wonderful pony on our team.
We will miss him so much, but we have such happy memories of a genuine, kind RDA pony who gave so much to help his riders.
RIP Ant
