News For 2018
Unfortunately we currently have no riding vacancies. We are however hoping to start a new afternoon session. Please contact our Chairman, Frances on 07798 941229 if you would like to go on our waiting list or are interested in volunteering.
We have all been enjoying the lovely summer weather and unusually, when we have really wanted a dry sunny day, we have been lucky. The first of these was for the South Region RDA Qualifier, where we had five riders competing in various dressage classes. There was a total of 46 competitors in the dressage section and we were delighted that four of our riders qualified for the National Championships at Hartpury on the 14th and 15th July. This is a tremendous achievement and now we all continue the hard work in preparation for July.
The second day we really needed dry weather was for the tennis Tournament which took place on a number of courts generously provided by families in and around East Garston on 3rd June. The day started with 32 couples playing it out in a knock out competition which culminated in a final in the early afternoon between Ed and James Horsefield and Ed and Harriet James. After a tightly fought match, the Horsefield pair were victorious and were presented with the trophy by John Francombe. The Lambourn RDA team were there in force to provide lunch and refreshments to the players, friends, family and supporters; around 150 people. It was a great day, if a little bit too hot for some, who sought shade and a cooling drink! We are very grateful to Charlie James and Mandy Weldon for hosting the event and for all their organisation and to everyone who came to help make the day such a great success.
We are looking forward to Garstonbury on Saturday 14th July and this year they are kindly raising funds for Lambourn RDA. Although some of us will be busy at Hartpury, we will be there with our gazebo and stand with information about what we do and how you can get involved. We will also have some games and fun activities with prizes to be won, so get your tickets and do come along and visit us. There is a great line up of bands and it is going to be an amazing day out for the whole family.
For the first time for some years all our riding sessions are full and we have a waiting list, so we have begun to consider starting a new afternoon session. To achieve this, we will need a new team of helpers and at least one new coach because all our existing volunteers are busy in other sessions. If you would like to find out more, please do get in touch as we would love to be able to offer a place to all those who want to ride.
